Angel My Ski Buddy and Me in the Local Papers
Last week my ski buddy and I got "Ski Buddy of the Week". That's when my teacher, Ms. Schilly, decides who was the best ski buddy and who deserves the best buddy award. The award is a bag of candy, letters of praise, and their name gets posted on the school bulletin board.
My friend's mom, Mrs. Calves, took this picture at Tuxedo Ridge, our local ski mountain. The picture ended up in two! local papers -- the Sentinel and the Chronicle. Check out the article. I was really happy when I noticed that I got in the paper for the second time this school year!

Oatmeal
Luca loves oatmeal and evidently Caio no longer likes it. Oma and Grandmom made the boys oatmeal endlessly last year and Caio declared a moratorium until 2011. On January 1 Luca asked for oatmeal for breakfast and clearly had waited for the ban to be lifted. I made him his favorite breakfast.
As we were eating he asked me if I knew what Oma's secret ingredient was. I said yes, "it's love". He was surprised that I knew. I told him I used the same secret ingredient. Concerned, he asked what would happen if it ran out. I thought he meant the oatmeal and said we'd buy more. He said, "no, what if you run out of love?" I explained to him that it could never happen.

Knots
Caio got a knot tying game from his cousins and it's hard. But Luca just invents his own knots and gives them interesting names. Here are a few:
Generator Knot
Egg Knot (Also Fish Egg Knot)
Turtle Shell
Plankton Knot
Bicycle Knot
Croissant
Round Knot
Belt Knot
Tiny Knot
The Crocodile
Eggshell Knot
Unknown Knot
Boat Knot
Scorpion Shell Knot
I don't know how they work but I can imagine them by their names.

Achilles Run in Central Park
I won second place in the 8-9 year old race in Central Park. I was the first 8 year old. My friend Evan is right behind me in the blue shirt. I ran as fast as I could because I had to go to the bathroom really bad. After the race we took a pedicab to Rockefeller Center and we went to the new Lego store and then to the Nintendo store.

Caio and Luca
Luca and I have been working on this blog since March 2, 2009. So I was thinking of doing something different. But what different thing am I going to do? We are going to try to get videos up on the blog. So hang in there while we work on the technological difficulties!

Riding and Little League
On Sunday I had baseball and riding. Baseball is at 8:30am and riding is at 10:30am. At Little League it was the first time the kids got to pitch and on Saturday I got a new glove, bat and uniform. My team is called the Athletics or the A's. This is me getting ready to catch a ball. My dad says that I would be either a good pitcher or a good short stop.
Here I am riding a bigger horse and her name is Buttercup. It's twice the size of my old pony Jasmine. I was posting while I was trotting in the indoor arena. It is easier to post while trotting because when you post while trotting your ride is much smoother. After I had my lesson Leslie my teacher allowed us to go around the outdoor track.

In the Forest
In the forest it can be nice
but don't forget about the lice
they squiggle and squirm in the leaves
so don't forget to wear long socks and long sleeves
if you please!

First Poem
the sky is blue, the day is bright.
The air is warm and with delight.
and with my homework done in a fright.
With the sun beaming so bright
it blinds me with delight.

Dim Sum
Caio: This is Jackson, Jack, Luca and I at Dim Sum in Chinatown. It was very fun because afterwards I got to go to Toys R Us. At lunch Luca liked eating shrimp. There was a dessert that tasted really good. I had three. I saw my friend Jason there too. Janice's mother is Chinese so she ordered for us.
Luca: I ate with chopsticks. I saw a Chinese dragon and a Chinese bird with blinking eyes. Shrimp is my favorite and shrimp is good. I had two desserts.

Luca's Fish Have Babies!
Santa brought Luca 2 fish for Christmas and now there are 15 babies! We all agree it's a miracle tank. Suddenly 3 snails have shown up, too. We added a placo (cleaning fish) to help keep the tank healthy and give him extra algae tablets for his dinner. Luca exclaimed one evening "We forgot to give Plaky his allergy waffers!" (Algae wafers) Now every night we give him his waffers.
We were at the pizza parlor last night...
and three teenagers were being scolded (severely) by their father for being late and possibly being up to no good. Caio overheard the heated conversation and said "the boys should just say they were being fashionably late!"

Caio's Joke (Not an original)
A cowboy rides into town on Friday. He leaves three days later, on Friday. How does he do it?
First correct reply wins a hotwheels car, a Thomas train or a Pokemon pack!

Alvin & the Chipmunks: The Squeakel
Luca's FAVORITE lines from the movie he hasn't seen yet...
As he's kissing his mother's hand: "Make way for the love doctor"
and, as he wiggles it: "Shake what your momma gave you"

Luca's Vocabulary Lesson
Heart Attack: You know, when someone hits you really hard, like on the arm, or stomach. That's a hard attack.
Landscape: That's when someone wants to escape the city. And go to the country.

Oma's Birthday Prank Pictures
For Oma's birthday, we thought we'd delight her with a little surprise. The grandchildren would not pose nicely for one photo. Surprise!
